Racing Charter
Daphne’s Smile is not a flat out racer by today’s standards, but comes from the time when racers could also accommodate all their crew, which is also the spirit of the classic Swan yachts. She is very fit to be sailed hard in any weather, and her speed and rating make her compatible in the regattas.
The gear (headsails, spinnakers, light and heavy sheets, barbers) is plenty and can keep everybody busy in a race, giving the whole team plenty of physical exercise when it is windy. But Daphne’s Smile has also done well in two handed races as no weight on the rail affects her less than the light, beamy boats.
Most of all Daphne’s Smile gives her crew the option to associate, talk and live together after the racing, as most of them will sleep and live on board between the legs of an event. This makes the experience unique compared to other race boats and achieves more team building.
The standard procedure before racing is lightening the yacht from unnecessary cruising equipment, bringing in the racing sails and gear, removing the roller- furler drum and getting the crew familiar with the yacht and its safety equipment.
Up to 10 guest crew together with the skipper and one professional crew can race the yacht.
She can race with ORCi, ORC club or IRC certificates.
